New tutorial posted

I have just uploaded the tutorial for my new Bridie's Blessings One Metre Wonder Quilt 2. Once again this quilt uses only 1 metre or 1 yard of the main focus fabric. This little quilt measures 43 1/2 inches square and is ideal for charity purposes or a new baby gift.

The designs I used for this quilt were the Colourwork Owls on the Block from Hatched in Africa. You can download the instructions for this quilt HERE

Another new quilt pattern and sandwiching a quilt with pool noodles

Last night was the final night that we did our penguin guiding for this season. We are now off until mid September when the little penguins will start to breed again. The sunset provided beautiful subtle hues for us to enjoy.

I have been designing another one of my 1 metre wonder quilts where you only use 1 metre of the main focus fabric.
The embroidered designs are the Colourwork Owls on The Block by Hatched in Africa. They are quick to stitch out and ideal for a quilt such as this 43 1/2 inch square one. I will have tutorial for download up later on in the week .

I pressed, cut the backing and batting, sandwiched and spray basted this quilt and the other small one that I made last week in under an hour this morning using the pool noodle method.  I have provided a quick tutorial on spray basting/ pin basting a quilt using pool noodles in the photos below.

Step 1

Roll the backing onto the noodle so that the right side is face down against the table, ie, as you unroll it the wrong side is facing you and the quilt top is rolled as shown with the wrong side against the batting as you normally would. As you roll the pieces onto the noodles make sure that you keep the noodle nice and straight by placing your hands near the ends to roll and then smooth towards the middle as you go.

I have stitched together this quilt top today. It is going to be a gift. It is called my Bridie's Blessings One Metre Wonder quilt because you only need one metre of the border focus fabric to make it. The designs are the Rag Train from Hatched in Africa

Lots of happenings

I have no idea where the days go. Once again it has been ages since my last blog post but I do update more frequently on Facebook.
At the beginning of the month, on International Women's Day I was honoured to receive a Diamond of Devonport award  for my work with Bridie's Blossoms and Blessings

Early this week I delivered quilts and knitted blankets to the local women's shelter. I have pics of some of them below.

At the moment I am busily working on the little hats and embroidered teddy bears that go in the packages for our hospitals.

We are coming to the end of the penguin guiding season. We have lots of birds moulting at the moment and they will return to the sea when they are fully feathered once again.

We have had some glorious sunsets

We have also been continuing to have many bird visitors to the garden fountain. These are photos of an Eastern Spinebill

The Two BOM's that I am currently doing are humming away. Block 9 has been sent out for the Jacobean Roses and Block 3 for the Magnolias in my Garden.
